It is never pleasant to undergo medical treatments, and for children in particular the experience can be daunting or frightening. The Anouk Foundation, named after an inspiring girl with special needs, is a Swiss-based organization that draws upon teams of artists, in collaboration with medical staff, to create bright and cheerful murals on the walls of medical institutions, creating a more vibrant atmosphere and lessening the fear of medical interventions. The Trafigura Foundation has supported Anouk since 2012 and is now extending its support to a new series of paintings in a hospital in Huelva, Spain. Here, bright pictures on the walls will give a more cheerful outlook to children in RioTinto’s paediatric unit.
