Wildfires in Mati: our partnership with Together for Children Greece
On July 2018, wildfires ravaged the eastern coast of Attica: circa 100 people lost their lives and main residential centres were burnt down. Mati, situated at circa 30 kilometres from Athens, was one of the most severely damaged villages.
After the tragedy, the Trafigura office in Athens activated a solidarity response by collecting goods and clothes for the families hit by the disaster. The Trafigura Foundation contributed to post-disaster relief operations by donating EUR 30,000 to the organisation Together for Children that helped low-income families relocate to a safe residency and cope with immediate financial needs.
