World Vision has estimated that household income levels have significantly deteriorated in Mongolia as a result of the pandemic. As a primary coping mechanism, families with a difficult financial situation have cut medical costs and reduced the quality and quantity of their daily meals. Others have been forced to enter into a debt cycle in order to make ends meet.
In this time of emergency, the Trafigura Foundation and Trafigura’s employees have made a donation to World Vision Mongolia to fight the consequences of COVID-19. This action helped to support 1,026 households in financial distress.
The donation has been distributed to families in the form of cash support to address food insecurity, and facilitate alternative livelihoods for Mongolian households who have lost their sources of income during the pandemic. World Vision Mongolia’s action has given priority to families with children, people with disability, pregnant women, senior citizens, and families who have lost their jobs and source of revenue.
