Our Foundation

The Trafigura Foundation provides long-term funding and expertise to improve socioeconomic conditions of vulnerable communities around the world. We join forces with experienced organisations on the ground to achieve long-lasting impact with programmes tailored to local realities.

We fund projects on a multi-year basis to maximise their potential for sustainability and success. In this way, we truly accompany our partners and can measure success and impact on a regular basis, including visits to the field. We like to support projects which encourage communities to take responsibility for their own future and help them reach their full potential.

How we work

Supporting the Sustainable Development Goals

The Trafigura Foundation supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the global development agenda set by the United Nations aiming at ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring peace and prosperity for all.

We embrace the ambitious vision of the SDGs to better communicate our philanthropic strategy, identify key partners targeting common challenges and frame in a more universal way our scope.

To this extent, we have identified three SDGs that encompass and express in a universal language the key priorities addressed by our areas of action. These are:

  • SDG 8 - Promotion of decent work and economic growth
  • SDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production
  • SDG 13 - Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
