FXB Village - India
Community Development
The FXB-Village concept has been developed in
a number of countries by François-Xavier Bagnoud International. The
objective is to work efficiently with selected families and to
enable them to lead healthy and productive lives. It is a
sustainable operational community development entity with five
principal components: healthcare (especially with regards to AIDS
treatment and prevention); nutritional support; education;
psychosocial support; income-generating activities. The combined
impact of these components ensures that the vulnerable and affected
families are reasonably provided for their material needs while
they are simultaneously trained in setting up a suitable business,
which will make them economically independent – thus addressing the
project’s sustainability on the longer run.
The Trafigura Foundation agreed on a grant for a three-year
period starting in January 2010 in support of the development
of a new FXB-Village in Mathur Village Panchayat (Villupuram
district, Tamil Nadu) and Kalapet Village Panchayat
(Pudhucherry).
