Inter Aide, Mumbai

Economic Autonomy Through Micro-Business

The main goal of this project is to enable vulnerable families to reach economic autonomy through a   microcredit (productive loans) & savings scheme as well as training and advisory services.

Mumbai counts with a population of over 16 million inhabitants, of which 6.5 million live in slums. A significant number of families wish to create or develop a small income-generating activity but lack the necessary seed capital to do so nor the competence and technical accompaniment to give their small business the best chances to survive or grow.

In association with two well-established Mumbai-based charities (Keshav Gore Smarak Trust and Nanvnirmaan) which has been working for almost 50 years in Mumbai’s slums, Inter Aide aims at developing the service for productive loans, savings scheme and training & advisory services for the micro-entrepreneurs – and having it further expanded over the period through additional delivery branches in new slums.

The Foundation has pledged support to this project until 2013
