Support to Micro & Small Enterprises (MSE)
The global objective of the programme is to
improve the managerial and professional capacities of micro and
small entrepreneurs (MSE), thereby contributing to local
socio-economic development. To reach that goal, IECD has developed
a wide range of training and coaching services aiming at:
- improve management skills of micro and small
entrepreneurs in the informal sector,
- enhance economic potential of MSEs,
- institutionalise local associations
dedicated to support to MSEs.
IECD has been running this programme
for several years already, in 7 Management & Training
Centres (MTC) in 6 African cities: Kinshasa (DRC), Abidjan and
Yamoussoukro (Ivory Coast) and Yaoundé, Douala and Bafoussam
(Cameroon).
Measurable results have been achieved, which
confirm the relevance of the programme.
IECD’s proposal to the Trafigura Foundation
was about
1) continuing and developing the current
programme in the 7 existing MTCs
2) opening 3 new ones over the funding period,
2 in DRC (Lubumbashi and Kisangani) and 1 in Ivory Coast
(Abidjan).
An evaluation is foreseen at the end of the
funding period, so as to qualify and quantify the results
achieved.
The Trafigura Foundation will support this
project for a minimum of 3 years, ie. until end of 2013.
