After the devastations caused by
Katrina hurricane in August 2005 in New Orleans, Trafigura pledged
a funding plan to NOCCA, one of the most prominent pre-professional
arts conservatories in the US, opened to the most talented and
motivated students, regardless of their financial means. The
Trafigura Foundation support over 2008-2010 was intended
to help NOCCA recover from all the damages it suffered from
Katrina, as well as to expand its learning environment so as to
firmly face the challenges of the future. The donation has been
established as a "Challenge Grant", which is due to be matched by
donations from other sources such as corporations, foundations or
individuals. To date, this goal has been met and even exceeded.
In addition, another donation was granted to
NOCCA, meant at covering scholarship costs for those talented and
motivated students having insufficient financial resources to pay
for their schooling fees and transportation costs. More than 100
students have benefitted from such financial aid.
