Lucerne Symphony Orchestra (LSO), Switzerland
Music-Education Project
The LSO's Music-Education Project is a dynamic plan that strives
to develop and provide new opportunities that allow people a
close, interactive relationship to music and the artists involved.
The socially marginalized groups are in particular
targetted. Both the music and the person are the central
theme.
The initiators are, on the first level, the project leaders plus
the LSO musicians and the artistic management. The project leaders
intend to work in cooperation with artists from the most varied
cultural areas such as producers, dancers, composers, etc., with
(music) teachers as well as students from the Lucerne
University for Applied Sciences and Arts which is an important
partner of the project and is responsible for the scientific rating
and documentation of the education program.
The project relies on a large participation from the audience
addressed. LSO strives for an interactive experience between
initiators and the audience which is rewarding for both parties. It
is therefore not only conveyed but also artistically carried out
together. Each and everyone's own potential in musical creativity
should be experienced.
The LSO Music-Education Project is aimed at people of all ages
and social backgrounds. This is a major difference compared to
other programs from similar institutions who usually define
children as their main target audience.
One of the main goal of the LSO's Music-Education project is to
introduce classical music to people who, either due to financial or
social reasons, have never had the chance to access to it.
