Lee Next Step Fund, Houston USA

Learning Opportunities Programme

The Lee High School is a rather typical example of a public school operating in a destitute neighbourhood, with very low academic results (the school has been rated “Academically Unacceptable” by the Texas Education Authority). 75% of the students have English as second language et 90% come from families at or below the poverty line. The Lee High School is part of the Teach For America Houston programme.

The "Fantastic Learning Opportunities" project is a chance offered to motivated students to widen their out-of-school experiences, with a view to strengthen their probabilities of success in their educational path. FLOs consist of training seminars, workshop and courses, internships, thematic camps, summer youth programmes, etc. run, managed and/or organized by an external provider such as a university, a non-profit organisation or a company.
