Community Development
The Fundación Dequení is
a NGO established in Paraguay which carries out programmes
targeting children, families and communities in situations of
extreme poverty. In 2009, they attended some 6,250 children and
adolescents, and over 2,000 families in Paraguay. Dequení’s support
is built under 4 main directions: education (school, recreational
activities and parenthood training), health – with a special focus
on nutrition, family support and participatory community
involvement.
The Trafigura Foundation support them since 2010.
The Fundación
Dequeni operates 26 projects in 10 different locations in the
country. The project submitted to us cover their centre in Ciudad
del Este, in the East, which cares for 140 chidlren.
a) Education: delivery of a school
kit to all kids / school follow-up / support classes / recreation
and creative activities / sports
b) Health & Nutrition: basic
health and medical attention, with special nutritional support to
malnourished kids, delivery of breakfast and afternoon meal
c) Family support &
Community participation: social support to families, organisation
of a “parents committee” with special activities involving the
parents.
