ESSOR, Mozambique
Urban and Social Development
The ultimate purpose of this project is to improve the
socio-economic conditions for the inhabitants of the low-income
districts of the city of Beira (urban development).
Essor will mainly focus on three goals:
- Social integration of
children and teenagers in poor neighbourhoods of Beira, through
improved access to education for 750 children (3-6 years old) and
social skills for 2,500 teenagers
- Reduction of endemic
diseases (malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia...) through improved access
to clean water and healthier environment and practices for 3,000
families
- Capacity building of the
civil society by providing an organisational, institutional and
operational support for the Community Based Organizations (CBO); by
building and furnishing a Community Development Centre in one of
the districts; by supporting and accompanying the development of a
local NGO (AMPARO).
