The special connection to the Trafigura people in
the world is essential in our philanthropic activities. The
Foundations develops most of its projects in close cooperation with
the Charity Committees in our main offices.
The Charity Committees are structured groups
of employees in our Trafigura offices, who meet regularly to set up
and participate in fundraising activities for philanthropic causes
of their choice. Charity Committees may also support and endorse a
specific charity or programme in their country/region for
consideration by the Trafigura Foundation. We believe this approach
reflects and furthers our global commitment to a better future for
everyone.
Through the Charity Committees and with our
support, all Trafigura Group employees are given the opportunity to
act and to firmly anchor the Foundation's activities on our
people's commitment and initiatives. They are a key tool to
encourage a close interaction between the employees in our offices
and the programmes we support. This can be in-kind contributions,
skills-sharing, showing interest in the developments of the
project, undertaking field visits, raising awareness and organising
events around the projects within Trafigura's corporate
environment.
The Charity Committees can also be most
useful, for the organisations supported themselves, as a
supplementary channel to raise awareness on their work and
achievements, as well as a potential way to secure complementary
resources.
All funds raised by the Charity
Committees for a given philanthropic project – provided its
charitable nature has been checked by the Foundation – are
systematically matched by the Foundation, hence doubling the
financial resources made available.
